A new constituency is emerging in the world--millions of people no longer believing they are victims and openly seeking a new way of living. A New Humanity is the decision to find each other, create friendships and inspire community. This impulse towards community has a natural affinity in those people embracing their spirituality and now realizing that life’s experiences are generated from their own internal perceptions. To support this development, resources, technologies, know-how and inspiration are needed so that self-sufficient communities can emerge able to align in a new global coalition in diverse regions worldwide.

A new humanity is the decision to create a new direction on earth--a global family no longer at odds with anyone or anything--able to create and bestow life through an outpouring of options to inspire the human condition.

Several technologies have been identified to support new humanity communities that, taken together, could permit an intentional community to create an altogether new option for the world. At the present time, efforts are underway to create a public demonstration of certain breakthrough technologies—a showcase that will convince any community in the world that they can become wholly self-sufficient and thrive off-the-grid. The objective is to make breakthrough discoveries available to diverse international groups looking for a ‘turn-key’ infrastructure for their own local, economic development.

Certain technologies are expected to serve as a revenue source for various community developments, including unique safe building materials made from landfills and industrial waste, new energy systems, technology for water extraction from the atmosphere, organic food-growing breakthroughs and diverse frequency and water technologies for body regeneration and life-giving nourishment for a new paradigm in health and healing.

There are now millions of people that want to create an alternative to today’s fearful world. Unknowns and uncertainties about today’s weather challenges combined with intensifying human conflicts worldwide increase the value of this emerging direction. New humanity communities are expected to create safe space and an outpouring of options for any human condition.

What Is A New Humanity?

We ride the coattails of a transforming idea now entering the world—to re-create the human condition by re-creating ourselves. In the decision to end the blame and be the change we desire for humanity, a new humanity is the decision to unlock the mind of this generation for an age of discovery and generate an outpouring of options to terrorism, ‘incurable’ disease and no-option despair. Drawing from diverse spiritual traditions as well as new understandings in quantum physics, a new humanity recognizes that the Gordian knot of our world has its origin in our Self. In a bold departure from blaming others for our own condition, a new humanity understands that how we see others is how we see ourselves and how we see ourselves is how we experience the world.

How Many Of Us Are There?

Various sociologists describe us as a new constituency emerging in the United States. Labeled by Paul Ray as the ‘cultural creatives,’ the roots of this constituency are the political activism of the 1960s. Its current expression, however, aligns more to the writings of Deepak Chopra, the PBS specials of Wayne Dyer, the film documentary, What The Bleep Do We Know, and the humanitarian visions of Native American activists, advocates of community and men and women pioneering new frontiers in many diverse fields. By some estimates, the new culture represents 25% of the U.S. population with its largest two components consisting of people who embrace the spiritual values of America’s new age and young people, curious and aware, many of them now entering today’s colleges and universities.

A new humanity seeks to inspire, network and create connections within this broad emerging audience.

The Foundation for a New Humanity seeks to give voice to this constituency through a new public dialogue oriented to today’s college campuses and the broad cultural creative constituency. The focus of this public dialogue involves (1) creating forums and conferences able to support the values, activities and creativity of a new global family; (2) inviting people to form ‘heart circles’ as an initial step towards community and (3) developing financial, technology and other resources for a new humanity coalition that can further assist self-sufficient communities wanting to become an energized, resourceful option to today’s fearful world. The Foundation is the sponsor of a nationwide program of public forums and workshops to promote the new humanity awareness.

The Foundation supports this development with a unique training for people wanting to achieve the new humanity experience and create community.

Our workshop series promotes development of the new humanity awareness. Workshop sessions are delivered in three one day programs over several months and provide tools and exercises to people ready to deepen their own journey into consciousness. The workshop series creates a unique ‘new humanity workout’ able to support one’s continuing journey into the awareness of non-judgment and allowance, and re-script your Self for the new humanity adventure.

The new humanity workshop series also creates community. Our objective is to support development of such communities in 50 cities within the next three to four years—people wanting to find each other and inspire development of a new humanity network. The Foundation has also identified groups worldwide that wish to develop self-sufficient communities or build a self-sufficient technology infrastructure based on the vision of a new humanity.

New Way of Living

This community design would make available a ‘new way of living’ by integrating certain values and philosophy with innovative building designs and new technologies to create a new form of community—one that financially thrives and can contribute to the global economy without being dependent on it.

Recent surveys indicate the emergence of a vital public issue—the issue of livability—involving people wanting open space near their homes, suburbs that encourage a sense of community and environments that contribute to less stressful living. With more and more of the world’s population sitting in cars bumper to bumper on clogged highways, anti-sprawl initiatives are gaining in popularity.

While many people believe that the erosion in the quality of community is contributing to a breakdown in the foundation of society, practical solutions for changing the patterns of modern life are elusive. A composite of trends is involved, including institutional centralization, work specialization, economic growth policies, a dependence on cars involving ever-longer commutes, and a long historical disconnect from nature, community and history.

The modern, unsustainable urban congestion is difficult to change even when 'green builders' are involved. As a result of numerous development constrictions, 'piece meal' rather than 'whole system' approaches are the dominant 'solution' on the frontiers of sustainable living. For example, construction loans are typically denied the builder wanting to disconnect from public service and use an alternative, off-the-grid power source. Consequently, even the energy piece, to suggest one example, is not included in most green development projects. The inherent limit to any piece meal strategy is that every development pattern that presently contributes to the erosion of community operates within one Gordian knot, tightly bound to all the other development components.

The ‘Earthome’ is an example of exceptionally affordable, fire-proof housing with elegant designs and living materials placed within walking distance of environmentally sound manufacturing facilities, shops, business offices and gardens of every variety. The concept becomes financially feasible with the introduction of certain technologies.

By re-cycling the waste of the community into safe, affordable housing or other consumer products, the pressure on forests and other natural resources can be relieved. With energy that is produced on-site and basically free, former energy budgets can be re-directed to support other purposes. With the practical introduction of the thriving self-sufficient community, a community can experience an evolution of living.

The modern world is building a mostly repetitious housing sprawl that grows by consuming irreplaceable agricultural land. It also depletes the life of inner cities as the sprawl spreads further and further from a city's downtown center. The human and economic costs of this strategy are steadily climbing. As affordable housing dwindles, irreplaceable land is developed at ever greater distances in a search for less expensive housing. The modern pursuit for long distance, affordable housing contributes to rising transportation costs, traffic stress and lost family time as the commute distance ever widens. At the present time, worker productivity competes with traffic congestion. Air quality competes with traffic pollution. The modern development strategy is one that builds pressure across every component of the development paradigm. Each of these patterns contributes to an ever-growing stress as empty human interactions re-enforce a restless mobility.

A new way of living is a concept to transform the present complex land development crisis. The cost of municipal services significantly comes down with a new way of living while returning jobs, now held by centralized institutions, back to the community. The land use design takes into account every diverse element of the community to assure a sustainable, livable whole.

A new humanity community offers a new way of living. Its design can be adapted and duplicated anywhere in the world in a wide range of population densities and terrain diversities. Within a new humanity community, certain common elements are expected to prevail:

Life Necessities on Site: electricity, food, water, building materials, vehicle fuels and other necessities are generated at low cost within the community. A new humanity community participates in global commerce without depending on it.

Waste Conversion: garbage and industrial wastes are turned into safe materials for the production of low-cost housing, fuels and other consumer products.

Mobile Technology: The community is mobile, allowing the community to move its members and infrastructure easily and quickly.

Design Input: New humanity communities can incorporate a unique planning component that allows future residents to participate in a planning process on the internet. Prospective residents anywhere in the world can meet each other and input their individual and community space suggestions inside a virtual community prior to construction.

Agriculture: New humanity agricultural systems can convert barren ground into rich topsoil for farming in virtually any terrain. With new energy systems that allow hot water production and steam to be available at low cost, food production can also take place affordably inside green houses using a wide range of indoor climates for organic farming year-round.

Mixed Use Communities: Housing, parks and schools are within walking distance to jobs and shops in the community design. Businesses can be part of the whole rather than separated out into office parks.

Pedestrian Friendly: Pedestrian walkways, bike paths and electric trolleys can support human scale designs. A lost element of community—the pedestrian—is restored in a new humanity design.

What are the technology components for a new way of living?

A community’s energy is provided by solar, wind, magnetic power generators or small portable stations able to convert the lower end of the electromagnetic spectrum into electricity. Community waste is recycled utilizing technology that turns garbage into a safe material. The new recycled material can be fabricated into wood or concrete substitutes at low cost. Fuels are produced on site to run internal combustion engines from bio-mass processes or water, replacing gas or diesel fuels used in internal combustion engines. Water can be pumped long distance inexpensively by creating a ‘tornado in a pipe.’ Barren soil can be turned into rich topsoil utilizing a bio-dynamic ‘energy spray’ that creates an explosion of micro-organisms for the production of topsoil. Polluted water can be changed into safe drinking water in a restructured water providing extraordinary health benefits. Other health breakthroughs are also available to return the quality of life to people challenged by disease.

A New Humanity is able to create community based on such technologies and principles, including the use of unique agricultural methods, creative financial instruments, creative design/build teams and the involvement of development specialists that offer new strategies to society for supporting the earth and people.

Recognizing there are various unknowns and uncertainties in today’s weather and human conflicts, a new humanity is also expected to inspire options and safe spaces for people facing weather emergencies, world pandemics, global warming or other life-changing developments, should they occur.

Breakthrough Technologies

With the turn of the last century, five breakthrough technologies—structural steel, the Otis elevator, line electricity, the telephone and the light bulb—made possible the modern urban skyline, redefining a modern world. Breakthrough technologies are discoveries that change the daily life and basic understanding of most people in the world should they reach mainstream commercial markets.

We think of inventors of breakthrough discoveries as historical figures but in the time of a new humanity, inventors of breakthrough technologies are appearing in large numbers. In fact, numerous breakthrough discoveries are presently operating in home laboratories and garages. The Foundation for a New Humanity has provided support and developed relations with approximately 30 breakthrough discovery projects and seeks now to bring its world-changing inventions out of obscurity where they can support the evolution of living.

The Foundation is currently pursuing financial and technical support in order to showcase its portfolio of discoveries—breakthrough technologies able to support people and the natural world—inventions expected to have very low impact or no negative impact on the environment while dramatically enhancing environmental restoration.

These and other technology discoveries are expected to create wide public interest. The project may also employ a range of other commercially available technologies and products such as recycling processes, solar panels, wind energy, bio-mass processes, affordable organic products and other solutions—along with the breakthrough discoveries described above.

In joining breakthrough technology with innovative land planning and new design concepts, the new humanity concept is able to create community based on a new stage of awareness and a new way of living.

Global Coalition

In the 1960s, there were diverse organizations working for political and social change. One difference between the movement of that decade and today’s constituency for a better world was the presence of coalition. Another difference is our understanding about what is causing human misery on earth.

Many organizations in the 1960s pursued their individual programs but also participated in a large coalition. An escalating war in Vietnam created the unifying issue that made that coalition possible. As events today create public awareness of a unifying issue for this time, the conditions to create a new global coalition can be expected to appear again. We believe that our unifying issue today is not the Middle East but the emerging human-earth relation. This is not an issue that will need to be explained or argued. Common sense and people’s own experiences with an earth that is changing will allow our unifying issue--the earth herself--to emerge as humanity’s common agenda. For a new humanity, the salient fact of this time is that the earth is evolving and so is the human race.

As coming events on earth make our actual relation with the earth more obvious, unifying human networks can be expected to emerge. Why is there a new humanity in the time of the earth? The time of the earth is also the time of humanity.

A coalition for a new humanity is an invitation to create a new human relation with the earth in respect and love for life that is unconditional. ‘Changing ourselves to change the world’ is the deep wisdom of a new humanity.

To that end, the Foundation for a New Humanity is inviting a new public dialogue to begin within the vast constituency of people and organizations seeking a new direction for the world—thousands of heart circle communities where blame is left at the gate and the celebration of life replaces the fear of life in an outpouring of options to inspire the human-earth relation.

Organizational Initiative

The new humanity vision is being introduced to the public through national speaking tours, new humanity workshops and various regional and national conferences. The Foundation is not the organizer of this proposed new coalition. Out of diverse local and regional discussions, we support the development of an initial organizing group able to serve as interim host of this process. Such individuals would inspire and communicate the vision of a new humanity by their own work and understanding. Our hope is that a new coalition can become the support network for local community developments, able to bring technologies, capital, architecture and other resources to their assistance.

How Community Can Begin

The initial organizing team for this community development are individuals able to inspire a new stage of awareness. Ending blame and taking responsibility for one’s own creation is a cornerstone of this new awareness. Small groups may wish to support this effort through ‘heart circles’ that inspire open minds and lasting friends to appear in your life.

The Heart Circle model was created by Tej Steiner who has facilitated several thousand small support groups during the past twenty years. His book, Heart Circles: How Sitting In Circle Can Transform Your World, gives people an extraordinary tool for forming their own ongoing Circle. Here is how Tej describes the concept.

• "Heart Circles are small, self-facilitated support groups for people wanting to become more creative, joyful, intuitive, heart-directed and responsive to the uncertain times in which we live. When people sit in circle with each other to explore what they truly want to create in their lives and world, they connect quickly and deeply. A new kind of community can emerge from this connection. The community holds space for individuals to live life from what they truly want instead of what they should or shouldn’t do. Those individuals then offer back to the community the vitality and creativity of their passion and clarity of purpose. This strengthens the community, which in turn creates an even more nurturing environment for the individuals within it."

Self-organized heart circles are not only joyful and effective, they can build sustainable communities to take us safely through this period of global transition from fear to love. Heart circles also create open minds. An open mind without condition unlocks the natural creativity and wisdom to steward this mission. Such a mind embraces the awareness that one is no longer at odds with anyone or anything. (The Declaration for a New Humanity more fully describes this stage of awareness.) Heart circles can be the inspiration of a community undertaking, deepening the spirit connection and creating the conditions for community to work. Unhealthy egos are dysfunctional to a new humanity. Rather than blame and attack others, communities that respect and embrace the perception that ‘everything is going to be better than imagined’ unleash an invisible influence and unlock a creative power that inspires a new humanity.

The Vision

Out of the inquisitions of Middle Age, the renaissance appeared. Out of the fear of the Cold War, a new generation broke free. Out of the war on terrorism, this generation could create a new humanity. There is now a vast constituency in the United States, larger than the renaissance and the ‘60s combined, holding an impulse to create a new direction on earth. There is also a considerable passion among this constituency to connect, create community and network. The vision of a new humanity is to create in the present world a future world based on a new way of living. From thriving new humanity communities, technologies, concepts, wisdom, infrastructure and know-how can appear such that options are presented and any community on earth can create its own version of a new way of living.

A New Humanity is a call to those people searching for friends, community, products, lifestyles, knowledge, and tools to create a new direction. It should also appeal to people desiring energy independence, self-reliance, pedestrian friendly communities and joy and life with others during the uncertainty and unknowns of the coming period.
